नई दिल्ली। जस्टिस संजीव खन्ना भारत के 51वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश (CJI) बनने जा रहे हैं। मौजूदा चीफ जस्टिस डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ ने अपने उत्तराधिकारी के रूप में जस्टिस खन्ना का नाम केंद्र सरकार को भेज दिया है। डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ 10 नवंबर को सेवानिवृत्त होंगे, जिसके बाद 11 नवंबर को जस्टिस खन्ना नए मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में शपथ लेंगे। उनका कार्यकाल 13 मई, 2025 तक रहेगा।
सरकार ने मांगा था नाम
परंपरा के अनुसार, केंद्र सरकार ने 12 अक्टूबर को मौजूदा चीफ जस्टिस चंद्रचूड़ से उनके उत्तराधिकारी का नाम मांगा था। इसके जवाब में जस्टिस चंद्रचूड़ ने जस्टिस संजीव खन्ना को अपने उत्तराधिकारी के रूप में प्रस्तावित किया है। सरकार की मंजूरी के बाद, 11 नवंबर से जस्टिस खन्ना की नियुक्ति प्रभावी हो जाएगी।
संजीव खन्ना का कानूनी सफर
जस्टिस खन्ना का कानूनी करियर बेहतरीन रहा है। उन्होंने 1983 में दिल्ली बार काउंसिल में नामांकन के साथ अपने करियर की शुरुआत की। उन्हें 2005 में दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के अतिरिक्त न्यायाधीश के रूप में पदोन्नत किया गया और 2006 में स्थायी न्यायाधीश बने। 2019 में वे सीधे सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश बने, बिना किसी उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश का पद संभाले।
जस्टिस खन्ना के इस नए कार्यकाल से न्यायिक प्रक्रिया में उनकी विशेषज्ञता और योगदान से देश को लाभ मिलेगा।
