प्रधानमंत्री ने 8,300 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की रेलवे और सड़क परियोजनाओं का किया लोकार्पण
रामेश्वरम। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने तमिलनाडु के रामेश्वरम में भारत के पहले वर्टिकल लिफ्ट समुद्री ब्रिज पंबन का उद्घाटन किया। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने राज्य में कई अन्य विकास परियोजनाओं की शुरुआत भी की। समुद्र के ऊपर बना यह रेलवे ब्रिज अतीत और भविष्य को जोड़ता है। इसे राम नवमी के दिन जनता के सामने पेश किया गया। इस दौरान पीएम मोदी के वहां होने से रामेश्वरम में सुरक्षा बढ़ा दी गई। प्रधानमंत्री ने नए पंबन रेलवे पुल को जनता को समर्पित किया। उन्होंने रामेश्वरम से तांब्रम (चेन्नई) के बीच एक नई ट्रेन सेवा को भी हरी झंडी दिखाई। साथ ही उन्होंने एक तटरक्षक जहाज को भी रवाना किया।
यहां से पीएम मोदी रामेश्वरम के प्रसिद्ध रामनाथस्वामी मंदिर पहुंचे। यहां उन्होंने भगवान के दर्शन और पूजा-अर्चना की। उन्होंने 8,300 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की रेलवे और सड़क परियोजनाओं का शिलान्यास और लोकार्पण भी किया। इन परियोजनाओं में एनएच-40 के 28 किलोमीटर लंबे वालाजापेट-रानीपेट खंड को चार लेन का बनाने के कार्य का शिलान्यास और एनएच-332 के 29 किलोमीटर लंबे विलुप्पुरम-पुडुचेरी खंड को चार लेन का बनाने का काम, एनएच-32 का 57 किलोमीटर लंबा पूंडियनकुप्पम-सत्तनाथपुरम खंड और एनएच-36 का 48 किलोमीटर लंबा चोलापुरम-तंजावुर खंड शामिल हैं। ये सड़कें तीर्थ स्थलों, पर्यटन स्थलों, शहरों, मेडिकल कॉलेजों और बंदरगाहों को बेहतर ढंग से जोड़ेंगी। ये स्थानीय किसानों को बाजार तक पहुंचने में मदद करेंगी और चमड़ा व लघु उद्योगों को बढ़ावा देंगी।
इस पंबन ब्रिज का सांस्कृतिक महत्व भी है। रामायण के अनुसार, भगवान राम की सेना ने राम सेतु का निर्माण रामेश्वरम के नजदीक धनुषकोडी से शुरू किया था। नया पंबन रेलवे ब्रिज रामेश्वरम द्वीप को भारत की मुख्य भूमि से जोड़ता है और यह वैश्विक मंच पर भारतीय इंजीनियरिंग की एक बड़ी उपलब्धि है। इसकी लागत 550 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक है। यह ब्रिज 2.08 किलोमीटर लंबा है। इसमें 99 स्पैन (खंभों के बीच की दूरी) हैं और इसका लिफ्टिंग हिस्सा 72.5 मीटर लंबा है, जो 17 मीटर ऊंचाई तक उठ सकता है। इससे बड़े जहाज आसानी से गुजर सकते हैं और ट्रेन सेवा भी बिना बाधा जारी रह सकती है।
पहला पंबन ब्रिज 1914 में ब्रिटिश इंजीनियरों ने बनाया था। यह एक कैंटिलीवर (धातु या लकड़ी का एक लंबा टुकड़ा जो पुल के अंत को सहारा देने के लिए दीवार से बाहर निकलता है) डिजाइन का ब्रिज था। इसमें एक शेरजर रोलिंग लिफ्ट हिस्सा था। यह समुद्र में खुलकर जहाजों को रास्ता देता था। एक सदी से अधिक वक्त तक यह ब्रिज तीर्थ यात्रियों, पर्यटकों और व्यापारियों के लिए जीवनरेखा की तरह काम करता रहा। लेकिन समुद्री माहौल से नुकसान और बढ़ते ट्रैफिक को देखते हुए सरकार ने फरवरी 2019 में नए तकनीकी और मजबूत पंबन ब्रिज के निर्माण की मंजूरी दी।
नए पंबन ब्रिज का निर्माण रेल विकास निगम लिमिटेड (आरवीएनएल) ने किया है। यह रेल मंत्रालय के अधीन एक नवरत्न कंपनी है। ब्रिज निर्माण के दौरान पर्यावरणीय प्रतिबंध, समुद्र की तेज लहरें, तेज हवाएं और खराब मौसम जैसी कई चुनौतियां आईं। यह इलाका चक्रवात और भूकंप के लिए संवेदनशील है, इसलिए इंजीनियरों ने बहुत सोच-समझकर मजबूत डिजाइन तैयार किया।
