जोशीमठ- पाताल गंगा में एक यात्री वाहन के ऊपर पहाड़ी से पत्थर गिरने की सूचना प्राप्त हुई। सूचना मिलते ही SDRF पोस्ट जोशीमठ से निरीक्षक श्री कर्ण सिंह के नेतृत्व में रवाना हुई।
घटनास्थल पर SDRF और जिला पुलिस द्वारा संयुक्त रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन चलाया गया, जिसमें पाया गया कि एक बलेनो कार (वाहन संख्या HR-22T-5713) पहाड़ी से गिरे पत्थरों की चपेट में आ गई थी जिसमें कुल तीन लोग सवार थे।
संयुक्त रेस्क्यू के दौरान एक पुरुष और एक बच्चे को घायल अवस्था में बाहर निकालकर उपचार हेतु अस्पताल भेजा गया, जबकि एक महिला की मौके पर ही मृत्यु हो गई। मृतका का शव जिला पुलिस के माध्यम से अस्पताल भेजा गया।
घायलों की पहचान निम्नलिखित रूप में हुई:
1. अंकित (पुत्र श्री बजरंग लाल, निवासी फतेहाबाद, हरियाणा)
2. ख्वाहिश (उम्र 10 वर्ष)
मृतक महिला की पहचान शिल्पा (उम्र 36 वर्ष) के रूप में की गई है।
