पहलवानों में फैली बेबसी की भावना अब सामने आई है। लेकिन यह भावना सिर्फ उन तक ही सीमित नहीं होगी। अनुमान लगाया जा सकता है कि कुछ इलीट स्पोर्ट्स को छोडक़र बाकी पूरे दायरे में लड़कियों में असुरक्षा और बेबसी का भाव और गहरा गया होगा। कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी के हरियाणा के एक अखाड़े में अचानक पहुंच जाने से पहलवानों की मौजूदा मनोदशा का अंदाजा देश को मिला है। महिला पहलवान विनेश फोगट के अपने खेल रत्न और अर्जुन पुरस्कारों को लौटाने की घोषणा करने के एक दिन बाद सुबह-सुबह राहुल अखाड़े पर गए।
इसके पहले बजरंग पुनिया अपना पद्मश्री लौटा चुके हैं और ओलिंपिक पदक विजेता साक्षी मलिक के आंसू तमाम देशवासियों ने देखे हैं। राहुल ने अपने परिचित अंदाज में अखाड़े जाकर व्यायाम किया और पहलवानों के साथ नाश्ता किया। लेकिन यह बात अहम नहीं है। महत्त्वपूर्ण उनके दौरे के कारण जमीनी स्तर के पहलवानों को मीडिया के सामने आकर अपनी बात कहने का मिला मौका है। पहलवानों के सामने प्रस्तावित राष्ट्रीय टूर्नामेंट का सवाल आया। इस पर उन्होंने कहा कि ये टूर्नामेंट तो हो जाएगा, लेकिन उससे बड़ी समस्या पहलवानों और खासकर महिला पहलवानों के सामने है। जाहिर है, ये वही समस्या है, जिसको लेकर साक्षी मलिक और विनेश फोगट साल भर से संघर्ष कर रहे हैं।
जब यह पूछा गया कि क्या राहुल गांधी के आने से कोई फर्क पड़ेगा, तो एक पहलवान ने कहा कि उनके हाथ में क्या है, जो करना है, वह तो सरकार ही करेगी। ये टिप्पणियां पहलवानों में फैली बेबसी को जाहिर करती हैं। लेकिन यह भावना सिर्फ उन तक ही सीमित होगी, यह मानने का कोई कारण नहीं है। बल्कि अनुमान लगाया जा सकता है कि कुछ इलीट स्पोर्ट्स को छोडक़र बाकी पूरे दायरे में लड़कियों में असुरक्षा और बेबसी का भाव और गहरा गया होगा। आखिर जो अनुभव पहलवानों को हुआ, वह दूसरे खेलों की खिलाडिय़ों के लिए भी असामान्य नहीं है। इस मामले में खास यह हुआ कि कुछ पहलवानों ने लड़ाई लड़ी। लेकिन पूरा सिस्टम- जिसमें सत्ता पक्ष भी है- आरोपी के बचाव में खड़ा नजर आया। अब डैमेज कंट्रोल के लिए कुछ कदम जरूर उठाए गए हैं, लेकिन उन कदमों की गंभीरता पर सवाल लगातार बना हुआ है। ऐसे सवालों के बीच खेल जगत में भारत के उत्थान की उम्मीदों का कोई मजबूत आधार नहीं हो सकता। असल में ऐसी उम्मीदों को तगड़ा झटका लगा है।
