इस फिल्म की कहानी साल 1952 से शुरू होती है, उस साल में भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम हार जाती है और इस हार का ठीकरा सैयद अब्दुल रहीम पर फोड़ दिया जाता है। इसके बाद सैयद 1956 में मेलबर्न में होने वाले ओलंपिक के लिए खुद टीम का चुनाव करते हैं और देशभर से बेस्ट खिलाडिय़ों को टीम में शामिल करते हैं। हालांकि, टीम ओलंपिक में चौथे स्थान तक पहुंचती है। इसके बाद क्या होता है इसके लिए तो फिल्म देखना बनता है।
